This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and we require an experienced, flexible and motivated Orthoptist to join our team of 8 Orthoptists and 3 Paediatric Consultant Ophthalmologists, including 1 Neuro-Ophthalmologist. The post will be based at The James Cook University Hospital with single-handed sessions undertaken each week at a second acute site dependant on experience.
Duties include adult ocular motility and paediatric clinics in conjunction with an Ophthalmologist, general Orthoptic, Goldmann visual fields and support to eye casualty, neurology and maxillo-facial departments. The James Cook University Hospital has a regional centre for Neurology and we are responsible for testing many patients from their speciality including Orthoptic assessments and Goldmann visual fields.
Main duties of the job
Opportunities exist to participate in the clinical teaching of health professionals and pre-registration optometrists as well as undergraduate Orthoptic students. CPD time is organised in the form of journal clubs, teaching/training sessions.
A Diploma or Degree in Orthoptics plus registration with the HPC is essential and you will ideally have had some post-qualification experience or varied experience at a similar level ideally including single-handed clinics.
Informal visits to the department are welcomed.
