We are looking to expand our friendly team of 6 ANNPs with an additional 3 currently in training. The neonatal service is a busy Local Neonatal Unit with a split Neonatal on call consultant rota. The ANNPs work on a rota in parallel to the tier 1 ST Paediatric doctors and a separate middle grade medical rota.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a candidate who can bring the following skills and expertise:
An experienced ANNP who works as an integrated member of the neonatal multidisciplinary team, using an evidence-based approach together with advanced clinical skills on the tier 2 medical rota
Makes judgements involving complex facts, requiring analysis and interpretation to monitor and evaluate outcomes in patient-centred care
Manages and leads complex situations in the absence of senior medical cover
An independent/supplementary prescriber
Supervises and facilitates multidisciplinary education for all members of the neonatal team
Demonstrates clinical nurse leadership and acts in a Senior role for the Trust, network and at a regional and national level
Develops strategies to ensure that standards for neonatal critical care are established and benchmarked
Introduces change in service delivery across the whole spectrum of care for the neonatal population, encompassing primary care and public health

The practitioner will contribute to nurse leadership within the Directorate and the wider trust to foster innovation, both clinically and organisationally. Additionally, to provide advice and consultancy to professionals within the organisation and from other agencies, both locally and nationally. This advanced role will provide the post holder with the opportunity to participate in the clinical management of patients requiring Neonatal Care at all levels, in a role traditionally undertaken by Junior Doctors.
