An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our well-established interdisciplinary chronic pain and fatigue management service.
You will be responsible for providing assessment and psychological interventions, clinical supervision, training and audit/evaluation. Good communication and team working skills are essential, but you do not have to have had prior experience with the client group.
The service is delivered from sites in Aylesbury and Amersham and include time within the related speciality of rheumatology. The post is team leader for our South team, based at Amersham Hospital.
There are opportunities for service development, service evaluation/research and teaching/training. The service has excellent links with the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training and Research. You will receive clinical supervision and can access a wide range of CPD activities and a strong network of Psychologists working in the Trust.
Main duties of the job
To work with patients and their significant others, the MDT and staff across BHT and be part of the wider Psychology Service.
To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality highly specialist clinical psychology service to persons with chronic pain and fatigue and rheumatological conditions across all sectors of care, within the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Management Service and Rheumatology Department.
To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by assistant psychologists, doctoral trainee clinical psychologists and other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Management Service.
To utilise research skills, as a major requirement of the job, for audit, policy and service development and research. To propose and implement policy changes which may impact on other professionals within the area served by the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Management Service.

- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical/ counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 and those who trained abroad) as accredited by the BPS, or with a statement of equivalence from the BPS
