Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join the Medical Directorate as a Band 6 Practice Development Nurse within the Renal Unit at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The field of Practice Development is a unique specialist role that allows for individual autonomy.The successful candidate will be an experienced, forward thinking, clinically competent Renal Dialysis Nurse and will possess the ability to work across a range of medical specialities to facilitate training, research and professional development through formal and informal teaching.Applicants will be motivated and passionate about practice development, and supporting and teaching registrants and support workers, in our diverse nursing workforce.The emphasis of the post will be working with nursing staff within the Clinical areas, acting as role model, supporting the implementation of clinical skills, competencies, preceptorship and development programmes.You will have the support of a highly ambitious Senior Management Team and we will offer you a structured induction, allowing you to professionally develop, and contribute to exemplary professional practice.

Main duties of the job

You must be able to function well in a team, as well as under your own initiative. A successful Practice Development Nurse is adaptable, responding to the changing service priorities. You will have excellent communication, record keeping skills and will possess a real passion for training, teaching and coaching.You will be flexible and will have the ability to adapt training to support all learning styles and meet the needs of the neurodiverse. You will be creative in the delivery of education, making the most of all teachable moments in any range of environments.You will create a learning and development focussed culture that is accessible to all registrants.You will be committed and enthusiastic, emphasising the implementation of evidence-based knowledge into practice and working within in a Professional Practice Model Framework. You will have an integral role to play in Quality Improvement Projects across the Medical Directorate and the wider Health Board.In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be able to work in partnership with a key range of stakeholders. Working collaboratively with a highly motivated and ingenious team to embed professional inquiry into practice settings.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Teaching/assessing qualification to Postgraduate Diploma Level (Level 6) or equivalent
  • Evidence of nursing related qualification to degree level
  • Post registration experience

  • Sound knowledge and understanding or current nursing and education issues
