Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and Northeast Somerset (B& NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the southwest.
Although an ALS instructor would be an ideal candidate for this role, applications from ALS providers with recent clinical experience in a similar role would be welcome. You will be expected and supported to complete ALS Instructor course within 12 months of joining the Trust
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse, Operating Department Practitioner or registered Paramedic and have considerable post registration experience. You will be an existing Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS Instructor and hold a teaching /assessing qualification or evidence of formal teaching.
The successful candidate will lead on the effective provision of a comprehensive Resuscitation Service across the entire organisation, including community services.
Be responsible for the planning, implementation and delivery of resuscitation training, ensuring that eligible staff across the Trust to ensure that staff are adequately and appropriately trained in resuscitation skills and practice.
Be responsible for the maintenance and development of all policies and procedures relating to resuscitation, physical health deterioration and DNACPR decision making (ReSPECT). Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, such as pharmacy services and medicine to support the maintenance and development of physical health related policies and procedures, including End of Life Care.

In acknowledgement that early recognition and escalation of physical health deterioration saves lives, this post gives the successful applicant the opportunity to join us in our journey to improve physical healthcare provision in AWP. Experience of responding to deteriorating patients along with the experience of providing resuscitation will be required.
The post has both clinical and administrative requirements where the post holder will be required to be flexible to respond to clinical queries in relation to the subject matter and requests for training.
Deputising for the Consultant Nurse for Physical Health and IP& C where required and facilitating team management responsibilities.
We are looking for a credible, passionate and enthusiastic registered professional, with demonstrable knowledge and experience in leading clinical standards with a passion to improve physical healthcare for those under our care in AWP. This is an exciting opportunity to gain corporate experience you will be required to lead the development and delivering of physical emergency response and treatment training, quality improvement audits, reviewing and developing procedures and guidance, and involvement in Trustwide projects.
This is a challenging role, working in a very fast paced environment within a small and friendly team. The successful candidate will find this a very rewarding role where you will be able to make a difference to service users with serious mental illness in a variety of settings, whilst focusing on developing your resuscitation expertise to offer a blended approach to care.
