We offer a comprehensive education programme which includes a regional child health preceptorship programme for newly qualified nurses, a clinical skills passport with regional study days, ED skills competency training. We have a Practice Educator who supports student and staff learning who will be able to assist in accessing other educational opportunities available to you. some training is now virtual.
Shifts are 12 hours rotation days/nights/weekends.
Future plans include a move to our new Children's Unit at the Bournemouth site alongside a new major Children's Emergency Department.

About us
What our staff say about us -
Jess- As a newly qualified nurse the unit has offered me a supportive environment to enable me to start my journey as a staff nurse. After training in London Hospitals it was daunting to start working at a new hospital, however the nursing and multidisciplinary team have made me feel welcome and confident. Although Poole is a DGH it is very busy with great opportunity to learn. I would recommend this unit to any nurse looking to start their first job in a busy friendly unit
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued team mates and colleagues
UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.
This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Recruiting Managers interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions that you have at interview
