These opportunities dont happen very often! Are you a band 5 or 6 looking for a change or challenge? A 6-month secondment opportunity has arisen to work in a dynamic Urology Cancer CNS team within the Urology Investigation Unit (UIU). You will be working closely with the Urology Consultants and the wider multi-disciplinary team in an out-patient setting in order to provide support and care for the patient with a urological cancer. This is a great opportunity to get a flavour of what Urology cancer nursing is all about. What have you got to lose, come and join the team.
Main duties of the job
Work with the existing Band 7 CNSs in nurse providing nurse-led clinics for patients with a urological cancer.
Work closely with the urological consultant in providing support in clinic.
Supporting patients and their relatives/carers when they receive bad news/or a diagnosis of cancer.
Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings.
Provide ongoing support either face to face or by telephone with our urology cancer patients.
Work with the wider urology nursing team on the Urology Investigation Unit (UIU).
Liaise and work with the wider cancer team including the Cancer Support Worker and Cancer Pathway Navigator.
Forge links with other departments and organisations both internally and externally.
You will develop and enhance your communication skills which will help you to support not only cancer patients, but all our patients that use the services provided by Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be mentored and supervised throughout this secondment.
