An opportunity has arisen for a Band B Senior Dental Officer to work within the Worcestershire Community Dental Services providing clinical and managerial leadership to dentists. The role will include recruitment, training and development and direct line management.
As part of the Dental Management Team, you will work closely with the Clinical Director and Consultants in Special Care and Paediatrics providing routine examinations to advanced specialist treatments. It is expected that clinical work will be integral to this leadership role.
As a Consultant-led service we provide dentistry to a wide range of patients including those requiring Paediatric and Special Care Dentistry. Several of our clinics are equipped to provide dental treatment with inhalation and/or intravenous sedation and the service also provides dental treatment under general anaesthesia at Kidderminster Hospital.

Main duties of the job
- To provide clinical care to adult and paediatric patients at Tier 2 level
- To provide a comprehensive dental treatment service for patients who require special care
- To provide clinical care under sedation when required and undertake further training if required to achieve this
- To demonstrate professional and clinical leadership in the clinical setting in providing treatment safely and to a high standard
- To provide clinical care, when required, in clinics across Worcestershire other than their base clinic, and in other settings such as care homes and hospitals
- To lead and provide exodontia services to paediatric patients under general anaesthetic
- To take on clinical and managerial projects as required
- To undertake appraisal of Band A dentists
- To attend and participate in the Dental Management Team meetings
- To undertake programmes of research that have been approved by the Clinical Director (CD) and which are relevant to the development of the service
- To advise the CD on the oral health needs of adults and children with additional needs and how services might be developed to meet those needs
- To contribute to departmental programmes in clinical governance innovation and service development.
