An exciting opportunity had arisen within London North West University Healthcare Trust to develop a career within Information Governance. This is a entry level position which will provide the successful post-holder with the knowledge to build a career in this area.
The successful candidate will support the Information Governance function working closely with the Information Governance Manager and team, and wider Digital team to ensure that the Trust complies with its legislative responsibilities.
Training will be given in the principles of information governance, policy application and development, collecting and collating assurance for the Data Security Protection Toolkit , risk management and incident investigations as developing and delivering training in information governance.
A key duty is to be responsible for the Freedom of Information email account, collating and producing Freedom of Information requests (Freedom of Information Act 2000) responses and/or Subject Access Requests (Data Protection Act 2018), keeping logs and working with departments to ensure that information is provided on time to requestors, meeting targets ( 20 days).
To assist the Information Governance Manager to improve Trust compliance through a risk based and planned approach including DSP Toolkit requirements, supportingand facilitating the collation of evidence and assurances to ensure that the Trust maintains and improves on its Toolkit returns, year on year.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate must be a good communicator both written and verbally and work well in a team. A key part of this exciting role is to be the first point of contact for Freedom of Information requests, and responding to these in a timely fashion. Collating monthly statistics to reflect the Freedom of Information requests and share this information at Senior level meetings such as the IGCSG.
When required, undertake risk assessments and develop actions to prevent the occurrence/reoccurrence of adverse events. Ensuring that personal information is adequately safeguarded is an important part of the role. The post-holder will be responsible for the maintenance of a register listing collections of personal information within the organisation and how this flows outside to others. They will monitor training compliance, ensuring that staff who have not received or undertaken training have completed it annually. They will work closely with the Information Governance Manager to update training packages which they may deliver face-to-face. The post-holder will assist the Information Governance Manager in the development of Policies, Procedures, reports and organisational communications.

Support the development, communication and implementation of robust information governance processes, policies, and good practice across the organisation
Support the Trust with its records management life cycle, including the sorting, recording and destruction of records as part of the Trusts Archiving process
Maintain the Information Asset Register for the organisation and to provide guidance and support to Information Asset Owners on completing their annual Information Risk Assessments
Investigate any breaches of security so that action can be taken to further improve security measures and report any such breaches to the IG Manager
Knowledge of data protection legislation e.g., Data Protection Act, GDPR and Caldicott Principles and how this interacts with other legislation
Maintaining and promoting Information Governance throughout the Trust
Understanding of hospital management structure and operating environment
High level of written and verbal communication skills
Good communicator with the ability to target and adapt to specific audiences
High level of computer literacy and analytical skills
Delivery of Information Governance training packages.
Completion of other Information Governance tasks delegated by the Information Governance Manager or Head of Information commensurate to the role.
