Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist Eating Disorders - Band 8a

Full time, permanent role

This post will play a key role in the delivery and development of evidenced-based therapies, clinical audit and research, supervision, consultation and training.

Our community service for severe eating disorders is expanding rapidly, following substantial new investment. We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic professionals to join us in developing a world class service for the residents of Coventry and Warwickshire. The new service will significantly increase our capacity to provide timely assessment and treatment for patients and support for their carers.

We are keen to hear from applicants who are as excited as we are by this service development and the opportunity it provides to improve patient care, reduce the need for inpatient treatment and contribute to the development of innovative interventions. We welcome applications from experienced clinicians but are also keen to develop the skills and experience of staff who are new to eating disorders though training, supervision and the opportunity to work alongside our experienced multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

You will have access to regular clinical supervision to support your practice and develop your skills. We have strong links with our colleagues in the Children and Young People's Eating Disorders Service and plan to build on this to develop an integrated service with flexible transitions from the CYP arm to the adult arm. There will be opportunities to work with CYP colleagues to develop your knowledge and skills with clients transitioning between services.

The service has specialist pathways for pregnant patients, severe and enduring eating disorders and adolescents transitioning from CYP services. It hosts the country's first specialist clinic for people with eating disorders and diabetes, which has developed an innovative, multidisciplinary approach to working with this group of patients. The community service is closely linked the inpatient eating disorders unit at the Aspen Centre in Warwick, allowing for continuity of care and seamless transitions between inpatient and community treatment.
