We work with children, both boys and girls, aged 10 - 18 that are on remand and dont know what their future holds, young people that are on trial, young people that are sentenced, sometimes for life, for some it is the first time in a secure setting. We work with some of the most vulnerable children in society that are placed with us for reasons of safety. Working alongside the CAMHS and Substance misuse teams affords us the benefit of being able to work in a truly holistic manner, responding to the needs of both physical and mental well-being in partnership. Additionally, you will work with prison departments, including all the wing staff, education, safer custody, probation.

Main duties of the job

Skills will involve:

Initial assessments into custody, Clinical assessments, risk assessments and management of a variety of health needs,

You will facilitate nurse-led clinics, Administer medication, immunizations and vaccinations, sexual health screenings, Triage and treat minor illness / injuries, attending emergency situations. Deliver age-appropriate health promotion sessions to this complex yet rewarding client group.

Experience of working with this client group and of working within a secure environment is desirable although not essential as a comprehensive induction package is provided.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for their designated workload within their speciality area with access to the support, advice and management from a senior clinician whilst not directly supervised. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge.
