Cardiothoracic High Dependency Unit Sister/Charge Nurse

Band 6 - 36 hrs per week working Days and Nights

We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to step into the role as the Cardiothoracic HDU Sister.

CHDU is a busy 10 bedded unit within the Ward 32 footprint caring for Level 2 patients pre and post Cardiothoracic surgery. We are looking for a 1st level Registered Nurse who is professional and has strong leadership skills. The nurse in charge must be confident, highly skilled and approachable.The post holder will work closely with CICU, Ward 32 and cardiothoracic theatres ensuring patient flow and ultimately patient safety.

Main duties of the job

CHDU relies on effective team work to ensure that the patients in our care receive high quality care and have the best experience possible. Experience within Cardiothoracic Surgery or Critical care is preferred.

The successful candidate will support the Ward Manager in the managerial and operational activities of the directorate offering clinical and professional support to all members of a multi-professional team. The post holder will possess proven people management skills, exercising a high degree of diverse and effective communication and professional judgement across the disciplines.
