This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to work across the Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust Inpatient and Community services for people with Intellectual Disabilities to ensure the highest standards of psychological care and innovation.

About the Teams

The Orion Unit is an 8 bedded inpatient service for adults with an intellectual disability and complex mental health needs and / or challenging behaviours whose needs cannot be met within the community at a particular time.

Alexander House is a Locked Rehabilitation Unit for adult males who have an intellectual disability, who may have a forensic history and are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.

ICATT provide a rapid, short-term assessment and treatment service for people with a learning disability who challenge services and may have additional mental health needs. They seek to provide an alternative to hospital admission where it is appropriate to do so, enabling service users to receive treatment and care within their own homes.

You will be part of a supportive IDD Psychology team who value collaboration and compassion. We encompass psychologists working within our CIDT's, Intensive Community Assessment and Treatment Teams, Inpatient Services and Neurodevelopmental Services. We are a forward-thinking department in terms of the services we provide to our service users, how we influence the wider system and the development and progression of our staff.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to develop the cohesive delivery of psychological services across patient's journeys from intensive support in the community, inpatient admission to successful discharge. We need an experienced and enthusiastic psychologist to lead this process. The ideal candidate would bring the most up to date research and cutting-edge clinical practice into the 'Crisis Pathway' Teams and draw together and disseminate the best examples of care from across our multi-disciplinary teams.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applicants with experience in the field of Intellectual Disabilities and skills in complex psychological work. Additional experience in an inpatient clinical setting will be an advantage.

Alexander House and the Orion Unit provide care 24/7 7 days a week and ICAT is an 8-8 7 days a week service and we would welcome applicants who are interested in working in a flexible way alongside our MDT and Nursing colleagues.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work in an integrated capacity with inpatient and intensive community support services but also in conjunction with the relevant community services. Clinical work includes taking responsibility for the most complex cases, working with both groups and with individuals, often necessitating liaison with wider services. You will form part of the Senior MDT and undertake joint MDT reviews of the most complex cases. You will lead and deliver key clinical interventions and ensure they are systematically delivered and evaluated.

The post holder will contribute widely to the leadership of the services and to the operational and strategic management/development of IDD Psychology and the wider directorate, proposing and implementing relevant policy and service developments. You will also be responsible for supporting the Head of Department with the recruitment, management, supervision and professional leadership of psychology staff across IDD Psychology services and other staff in this specialism as required.

Qualifications

Essential

• Doctorate Clinical Psychology degree, or pre 1996 qualified, a Masters Clinical Psychology degree with evidence of post qualification Doctorate level equivalent CPD, clinical and research knowledge and experience.
• Eligible to be a member of the British Psychological Society.
• Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.
• Post-Doctoral qualification in supervision, or equivalent.

Trainin

• Evidence of substantial post qualification training and supervision in psychological therapies.

Desirable

• Qualifications in Systemic Family Therapy

• Proven track record in senior professional leadership within psychological services.
