Post: Professional Manager for Nutrition and Dietetic Service

Professional Manager for Paediatric Services

Band: 8a

Base: Royal Gwent Hospital

Hours: 37.5

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced dietitian to manage and lead the paediatric dietetic team within ABUHB. This will include acute and community teams across the health board. Paediatric dietitians are located at the main acute site- The Grange University Hospital and in children's centre across ABUHB.

The team consists of clinical experts that provide dietetic care to a range of paediatric conditions and support families in there own homes with children with chronic and complex health needs. The team also have highly skilled assistant practitioners to support them in there roles. The team provide and support a wide range of outpatient clinics.

The post holder needs to be a HCPC registered dietitian and have experience in leadership and management. Relevant clinical experience will be considered, Paediatric experience is beneficial but not essential to the role.

The post holder will lead on development opportunities and work closely with dietetic team leads and other professional managers within the Nutrition and Dietetic Service. The post holder will be responsible for strategic management initiatives but also be required to have operational management responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be dietitians registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Senior clinical Dietitians with managerial experience are invited to apply to undertake the professional lead role for Paediatric Services.

This is an excellent development opportunity for those wanting to take part in the management and shaping of the Nutrition and Dietetic service with the emphasis on developing and changing the service provision within Paediatric Services within ABUHB.

The broad role of the 8a Dietitian will be as follows:
  • Operational leader of a large service with multiple teams
  • Reviewer and reviser of service structures and approaches in response to changing need.
  • Skilled and experienced practitioner with breadth of skills and experience.
  • Leader of systemic change across the service.
  • Leader of projects for Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Measures teams' performance and implements widespread change as required

In order to optimise the potential to cover the vacancy, applications for full or part time commitment to the role/part(s) of the role will be considered.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
