We are looking to recruit an experienced pharmacy technician to manage our team of ward based medicine management technicians and assistants. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills whilst maintaining your general pharmacy technician skills.

This is a well established post where you will manage and oversee the training of our team of MMTs and assistants as well as maintaining your clinical skills working on the wards as part of a clinical team.

You must be GPhC registered and previous experience within hospital pharmacy essential.

You will need to be committed and have excellent organisational skills. The role is vital in supporting our ward teams to expand our patient focused pharmacy services

Main duties of the job

Manage the current team of ward based medicine management technicians and assistants including staff rotas, sickness and absences

Carry out a full ward service as part of a clinical team, carrying out medicines reconciliation, ordering of medication, facilitating patient discharges

Holding regular team meetings to ensure staff are clear on objectives

Take part in the regular weekend and late night rota

Qualifications

Essential

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science qualification or equivalent.
  • GPhC Registered


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive years post qualification experience.
  • Ward based clinical pharmacy experience including re-use of patients own schemes.


Desirable

  • Practice research experience.


Knowledge and Awareness

Essential

  • Understanding of the need for confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH and Data Protection Act.
  • Extended role checking technician.


Desirable

  • Awareness of changes in the NHS.
