Full time Band 8a Advanced Practice Hand Therapist- 1 year fixed term contract.An exciting opportunity has arisen for an advanced clinical practice hand therapist (either Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) to work as part of a well-established and dynamic multi-disciplinary Hand Team at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital. We seek an individual who is driven, autonomous, forward thinking and enthusiastic.
Main duties of the job
You will manage a complex clinical caseload from assessment through to discharge of non-surgically and surgically managed patients with traumatic and elective hand and upper limb injuries. You will be working as part of the hand therapy team providing leadership, management and expertise, ensuring the provision of high quality of care to patients with hand injuries. Local and national hand therapy activities will form part of your role as well as research and teaching. We pride ourselves in supporting our team through education, training and development opportunities.
The post-holder will be expected to exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and integrity to make critical judgments to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role. In addition, the role requires excellent communication skills.

The Hand Therapy team consists of 31 hand therapists supported by 5 assistants and led by a Consultant Hand Therapist. The ACP team is made up of 4 hand therapists.
Hand Therapy is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Directorate with a supportive and progressive management structure. Departmental objectives are founded upon the core principles of the clinical governance framework and Trust Core Values. Research activity, quality improvement, robust evidence based practice and national guidelines drive forward our vision and direct service delivery
