We are looking for a Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to be the Lead Clinician for Stammering in the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service in Brighton and Hove.
This is a permanent post, currently 3.5 days per week, however, we are open to discussion regarding increasing or reducing the number of sessions to suit a candidate's needs. This role would suit an experienced Band 6 SLT looking for the next step in their career or an SLT currently working in a highly specialist role.
Evidence of a interest in Stammering as a clinical specialty and experience of working with children and young people who stammer , including teenagers is essential.
As a Clinical Lead in the service you will delivering clinical supervision to junior colleagues, providing specialist second opinions and working with the Clinical Service Manager, Clinical Lead SLT and the Professional Lead for Children's SLT to develop the service we provide.
All clinical staff are provided with a laptop, mobile phone and have access to an iPad for clinical work. We are supported by a skilled and experienced Admin Team.
There may be funds available for relocation costs for a successful candidate moving across the country.
Main duties of the job
To assess, treat and manage own highly specialist caseload of children and young people who stammer.
To provide clinical leadership, supervision and appraisal to other speech and language therapists, assistants and students.
To work with the professional lead to ensure staff are clinically competent, services are clinically effective and safe, and an excellent patient experience is delivered.
To provide specialist clinical advice regarding complex patients.
To develop key partnerships, through effective communication and networking with other disciplines and by working across professional boundaries.
To undertake regular reviews of the performance data relating to your clinical area to enable accurate reporting of waiting times for assessment & therapy and an understanding of service demand
To plan and develop training for SLTs and other professionals in specialist clinical area.
To contribute to service developments and clinical effectiveness projects, undertaking research and audit projects as appropriate in clinical area.
