The NSS RDC provides a faster diagnostic pathway for patients with suspected cancer and who do not meet the criteria for a site-specific pathway.
The RDC provides a service to GPs across the whole of the South Tees population area (Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland plus Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby). We also have an internal pathway for patients presenting to Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centres, Same Day Emergency Care, in-patient wards and / or through colleagues within the Trust. You will need a good working knowledge of acute medicine and of cancer pathways to support appropriate triage and will be required to demonstrate an understanding of the specific needs and expectations of this group of patients. You will be required to provide information and support for patients throughout the diagnostic process. You will work closely with clinical and medical colleagues to ensure patients are seen and assessed in a timely manner, and the service is compliant with the 28 day Faster Diagnosis Standard.
You will work under the line management of the RDC Advanced Clinical Practitioner, existing multidisciplinary team and with specialty colleagues across the Trust to ensure patients are supported throughout their journey.
