This position will play a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of our Involvement and Inclusion Strategy (2023 - 2024). This involves ensuring that the outcomes laid out in the strategy are achieved to their full potential. The successful candidate will be accustomed to working with a wide variety of stakeholders and be committed to improving key metrics of the WDES and WRES across all workplaces and services.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality support to the Trust around the Involvement and Inclusion agenda, including prioritising tasks, identifying areas of risk and advising on possible service and workplace developments.
  • To help implement the Belonging and Inclusion Strategy 2023-2024 for the Trust by providing effective support and links with existing local community groups that engages them in the process as well as stakeholders from inside the Trust.
  • To work alongside relevant operational groups to ensure that the equality and human rights principles are worked into all Trust functions and processes.
  • To work in partnership with the voluntary sector in developing effective methods of targeting and engaging with hard-to-reach groups in the community so as to ensure good representation in inclusion and engagement activities.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To ensure development of appropriate responses by the organisation to inequalities for both staff and those using Trust services. Including supporting the implementation of relevant NHS equality standards for race, disability, sexual orientation and accessible information.
  • To work closely with the Belonging and Inclusion Team to ensure that the Trust that it is meeting its legal obligations for Equality and Diversity as well as celebrating excellence.
  • Link in with other Involvement Coordinators at a local and national level so as to keep up to date with national progress on the Equality and Human Rights agenda.
  • To develop programmes of work that further increase the visibility of protected groups and highlight any needs that are currently not being met. Partly through close work with the Trust staff network groups for LGBTQIA+, BAME and Disability.
  • To contribute to developing a culture of parity whereby all protected groups are afforded fair and equal treatment within the Trust.

Any other duties, commensurate with the post, as requested by the Head of Belonging and Inclusion.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Further relevant training to a post graduate/registration level, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • ability to work with a range of people in different settings


Desirable

  • At least 2 years project management experience in the statutory or voluntary sector in a specialist or senior level capacity


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working collaboratively with a range of agencies
  • High level understanding of the current agenda surrounding the impact of discrimination on services
  • Experience of engaging service users and/or members of the public
  • Experience of work on the equality agenda


Desirable

  • Experience developing and/or delivering training programmes
