About the team:
The Mental Health Liaison Service provides a 24-hour service, 7 days a week to LewishamHospital offering urgent assessment and intervention to patients attending the Emergency Department and those admitted to the inpatient wards. The service works closely with UHL staff in a variety of medical settings.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Senior Psychiatric Liaison Practitioner to join the Lewisham Liaison Service within our busy, multi-disciplinary Mental Health Liaison Service.
You will join the team at an exciting time as we are currently developing our service in line with NHS England standards according to the CORE 24 Model for Mental Health Liaison Services.
It is essential that the post holder is flexible in working hours as the team operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You must have excellent clinical skills, be able to demonstrate an ability to complete comprehensive mental state examinations, thoroughly assess risk, formulate safe and effective risk management plans and document this clearly. You should have experience of mental health emergencies, and crisis care in a variety of settings including community.
You must also be experienced and motivated, flexible and be able to show initiative in an environment which can be fast paced and pressured, Clinical supervision can be provided along with excellent training opportunities

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2). We also provide services and operate across other locations, such as London boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark and substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Lambeth, Greenwich and Wandsworth.

- oEvidence of other advanced education related to Psychiatric Liaison

- Experience of working liaison services
- oRegistered General Adult Nurse/ formal training in physical health
- oFormal training in risk assessment and management
Skils and Experience
Essential
- oA sound understanding and experience of how to assess and manage crisis within acute mental illness.
- oDemonstrate skills in autonomous, senior decision making regarding discharge and sign posting of service users following a comprehensive assessment.
- oAbility to demonstrate knowledge of the epidemiology, presentation and immediate management of deliberate self-harm.
- Ability to work under pressure
