An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team in Luton.
Following significant investment from our local authority partners we are looking to extend our current workforce of therapists in Luton and are looking for a Band 5 Therapist to join our Mainstream Schools Team.
Interviews will take place on 11th December 2023.
Part time hours or a different working pattern could be considered - please contact the service to discuss what you are looking for.
We need:
A motivated and enthusiastic therapist who is willing to work flexibly
Someone looking to develop their clinical knowledge and skills

Main duties of the job
You will:
Along with the team, manage a caseload providing targeted, evidence-based assessment and therapy
Work across mainstream schools in Luton, developing a link therapist role in a number of schools
Work closely with colleagues in Health and Education
Participate in training to parents and other professionals around SLC needs
As a Service we provide:
A comprehensive support programme for newly qualified therapists
Formal and informal training, including shadowing opportunities
Regular robust clinical supervision and a mentoring system
Continued Professional Development opportunities including in house training and external courses
Reflective clinical forums and buddying systems
Regular whole service and locality team meetings

Job responsibilities
To undertake a range of assessments, both standardised and non-standardised, taking account of medical, social and educational factors, in order to make a differential diagnosis.
To plan, deliver and evaluate intervention following professional guidelines and agreed service standards
As part of that process, to be able to plan appropriate long term and short term goals, empower schools and families to embed the strategies and targets and work towards closing the package of support
To undertake administrative duties connected with the caseload including maintenance of case notes and provision of written reports, following service standards
To ensure that all work is carried out in close collaboration with all those involved in childrens care so that the approach to intervention and support is co-ordinated and comprehensive
To identify when there is a need for a second opinion, referring to senior colleagues or SLT specialists as appropriate
To make onward referral as appropriate
To deliver training to enhance the skills of the wider workforce around Speech, Language and Communication
To develop clinical skills and professional knowledge through experience, training and supervision
To take part in the supervision of students with support
To take part in supervision of the work of SLT Assistants and volunteers when required

- Recognised S& lt Degree or equivalent Health Professions Council Licence to Practice Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

- Attendance at relevant CEN
Experience

- Demonstrates a well-established knowledge of a range of clinical disorders, assessments and appropriate therapeutic interventions in specialist field including management of children with social communication difficulties
- Evidence of high level of specialist knowledge/skills as a result of experience/CPD
- Knowledge and understanding of ASD
- Evidence of working in a multi-disciplinary team
