An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Clinical Research Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team within the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility. The unit is a NHS research facility at Hammersmith Hospital in west London. It is located at the heart of one of the UK's most research-intensive universities, Imperial College.
We are looking for a motivated, skilful and knowledgeable nurse who works well as part of a team. Knowledge of research or is favourable but not mandatory. Clinical skills such as phlebotomy and cannulation are desirable.
The unit specialises in commercial and academic early phase clinical studies in various disease areas including oncology, haematology, neurology and metabolic medicine as well as healthy volunteers' trials. We host complex and challenging studies and we expect the post holder to adapt to the required flexibility of our portfolio.
Working with chemotherapy and genetically modified organisms studies form part of the activities you may be involved in. You will always be provided with the required training and support to deliver the required care. Working hours are shift work as the unit operates with early shifts, late shifts and nights with the occasional weekend. The post is fixed term due to research grants but we expect to be able to extend it.Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Research Nurse in the NIHR Imperial CRF (ICRF) you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for research volunteers (both patients and healthy individuals) participating in clinical research. This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data. You will work collaboratively with the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team and be supported in the management of your own caseload of research patients. You will apply your knowledge and skills to facilitate efficient, safe and participant focused clinical research.About us
