We are seeking positive and motivated staff who are committed to improving the quality of life for older adults who wish to be part of a resilient, welcoming and professional team.
Within the Portsmouth and South East Division, we have three CMHT, Petersfield and Borden, Havant and Waterlooville and Fareham and Gosport. The teams have strong clinical leadership, offering diagnostic assessments and treatment to service users with severe, complex, and high risk psychiatric conditions. The team provide assessment and treatment of people of older adults who are referred providing comprehensive assessments, formulate bio-psychosocial care plans, and offer evidence based treatment and advice.
Main duties of the job
The Post Holder will be based at Havant Health Centre their own office space and the specific support of a shared Medical Secretary.
The Post Holder will be responsible for referrals from their own patch and will have a clinical leadership role within the team along with another consultant. Patients will be seen in outpatient clinics primarily and through a home visit occasionally. The post holder will carry out new assessments for complex cases personally and support other team members to assess other referrals through supervision. You will oversee the clinical management of patients within the service through weekly multidisciplinary team meeting. You will also support the nurses in care coordinating people with complex problems and promote active case-load management and the use of outcome measures. He or she will attend CPA meetings and carry out Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act assessments as appropriate. The post holder will be available to team members for clinical advice during the working day. There is a well-functioning duty system in place covered by the nurses for triaging and emergency assessments. The team has access to the acute mental health team in Portsmouth and South East covering functional crisis for older people over the age of 65 out of hours and during weekends.

- Full Registration with the General Medical Council
- To hold Approved Clinician status at the point of taking up post
- MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
- Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 12 months of CCT at time of interview.
- Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
