We are looking for passionate, motivated midwives to join our community teams. We support a diverse group of women , birthing people and families across a wide geographical area, with an award winning freestanding midwifery unit, and a well established home birth service. ABUHB maternity services also have a newly built inpatient services which includes a very successful Alongside Birthing Centre . Our ethos focuses on kind and compassionate care and maternal / birthing persons choice, excellent multidisciplinary team working, an inclusive service and working towards the best provision of continuity of carer. 2023 is an exciting time to join our innovative team where we focus on a positive work-based culture and safe high quality of care. We take a holistic approach to supporting families and have many initiatives including use of beautiful birth boxes aromatherapy, hypnobirthing, biomechanics of childbirth, physiological breech birth, rewind therapy and more.

Main duties of the job

You will be based in the community & have responsibility for a group of women within a geographical area. You will provide ante natal care and post natal care to women within your caseload. In ABUHB we have specialist midwives: Ante Natal Screening Midwife Perinatal Mental Health Midwife Public Health Midwife , Safeguarding Midwife, Lactation Consultant and soon a Lead Midwife in Diabetes who will provide advice and support to the community midwives for the women in their caseloads with complex pregnancy needs. The community midwives work cohesively with other services to provide ante natal education. We also provide hypno- birthing, yoga and aqua natal to women. The role also involves an on-call commitment to support those pregnant people who wish to birth at home.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Working in a community setting being part of a small team with overall responsibility for women and birthing people who are on the Low Risk pathway and working collaboratively with Obstetricians for the women on the Obstetric Led Care pathway (Please see job description).
