Band 6 Occupational Therapist, Orthopaedic and Surgical team
Part-time (0.6wte, 22.5 hours p/week)
We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Occupational therapy team in the inpatient therapy department at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as part of #TeamWestHerts at Watford Hospital.
This is a part-time post and we would welcome existing Band 6 Occupational therapists who are looking to specialise in Orthopaedics and surgical care, and those experienced Band 5's who are looking for the next step in their career. This post is based on acute hospital wards and NHS experience is essential.
You would have the unique opportunity to develop your specialist OT skills with complex trauma, Orthopaedics, acute surgical and amputee patients alongside a well-established multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
As part of the team, you will clinically manage a caseload, completing detailed assessment & treatments in Orthopaedic and Surgical specialities, with patients who have complex needs including trauma, Orthopaedics, acute surgery & amputees. You should have a caring, committed and quality focused approach to the provision of patient care.
Discharge planning skills are key to this post, and you will need to be able to make timely decisions regarding transfer to community services and managing referrals to specialist units.
About us
There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust! Major redevelopment works are due for completion by 2025 or soon after. These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.
The trust has recently gained 'teaching hospital' status which reflects the dedicated work of many teams and individuals who have set the standard for delivering high quality training, learning and education at all levels of the workforce.
We encourage and welcome people with disabilities. If you need help, please ask.
We reserve the right to close this advert early due to the volume of applicants. Please apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
If you do not hear back within 3 weeks of your application, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
