Band 7 Lead Nurse/Physiologist
Sleep and Ventilation Service
Maternity cover for 12 months - Full time
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced respiratory nurse/respiratory physiologist to join the Oxford Sleep and Ventilation Service for a 12 month secondment contract covering maternity leave. You will work as part of a team delivering a specialist nurse/physiologist-led respiratory service and alongside the broader multi-disciplinary team to deliver exceptional care to a complex and diverse group of patients in Day case/outpatient setting. You will lead a team in delivering high standard of care to patients receiving long term ventilation at home including setting up, monitoring and following up patient's compliance and the effectiveness of the therapy.
There will be opportunities for service development, especially in the implementation of recent technological advances in non-invasive ventilation. The post offers excellent training opportunities, including academic modules. You will be encouraged and supported to use your initiative and to be creative in seeking ways to continuously improve care in line with the best available evidence.

The Oxford Sleep & Ventilation Service is a regional service which is part of the Specialist Medicine Directorate under MRC (Medicine, cardiac, Rehab) Division based in Churchill hospital. We look after patients having CPAP or long term ventilation at home. We have around 20,000 patients on CPAP and 900 on long term ventilation, including tracheostomy ventilation. Setting up, monitoring and following up patients to monitor compliance and effectiveness of the therapy are the main key responsibilities of the service. We guarantee a very good working environment supported by all the members of the Multidisciplinary team who focus on excellent compassionate care through continuous professional development , active participation in shared governance, decision making and research.
