We are looking for an enthusiastic and self motivated individuals to join Aneurin Bevan University Health Board's Central Management Accounting team.

Central Management Accounts is a small but strong team that works together to deliver effective monthly management accounting information to the Health Board.

You would become part of a friendly and supportive Finance team that is committed to growing it's own talent and is proactive in developing finance professionals.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The team is based in Mamhilad, and is responsible for providing high quality financial information to Business Partner Accountants and budget holders in line with the organisation's monthly reporting timetable.

You should be able to work to tight deadlines, have good communication skills and be able to demonstrate drive and commitment to consistently achieving high standards in this customer-focused role.

The team has adopted a culture of continuous improvement and you should be able to think innovatively to improve processes.

Job responsibilities

To develop and prepare monthly management accounting information. The post holder will be responsible for specific service areas and will regularly liaise with finance staff and budget holders to ensure high quality financial information is delivered.

To adopt a culture of continuous improvement and monitor delivery against performance standards set for the department by working in a customer focused manner.

Person Specification

Education & Training

Essential

  • Part qualified (CCAB) accountant or AAT qualified with Finance experience, or significant experience in a finance role.


Knowledge & Understanding

Essential

  • Knowledge of Finance and Procurement processes
  • Sound knowledge of computerised systems
  • Be competent in using numerical decision making techniques.
  • High degree of knowledge of generally accepted accounting practice


Desirable

  • Knowledge of external relationships and funding sources in the NHS
  • Understanding of service improvement techniques


Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Advanced level of Excel spreadsheet skills (e.g. pivot tables, lookup function)
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Be able to use GL system to generate financial reports, manipulate and interpret data
