An opportunity has arisen for the position of clinical sister at Franziska Willer ward, Sedgefield Community Hospital. Main duties of the job

To supervise, support and educate junior members of the team, acting as a role model.

Support ward/department manager to ensure organisational goals/objectives are met within ward/department.

When taking charge of the ward/department or in the absence of the ward/department manager, is directly responsible for ensuring that clinical, professional and cleanliness standards are maintained in the entire ward/department.

To ensure effective communication internally and externally, regarding patient care and resources

responsible for your teams appraisals.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

To be responsible and accountable for the safe, effective and compassionate nursing care for all patients in a ward/department area.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • RGN with current NMC registration teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent


Desirable

  • 1st LEVEL DEGREE


Experience

Essential

  • Experience at band 5 level, people management, clinical skills and experience in older persons management


Desirable

  • Clinical skills course/ leadership courses


Statutory Registration

Essential

  • Active 1st Level NMC Registration


Special Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent Clinical skills, effective communication , including negotiation skills. Basic IT skills


Desirable

  • Experience of report writing. Understanding aspects of change management and leadership
