An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Teenagers and Young Adults (TYAs) with Cancer to join the Oncology team at St Luke's Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be based at the RSH in Guildford, providing care to our expanding Oncology and Surgical services. The post specialises in Teenagers and Young Adults service and providing keyworker responsibilities to our patients undergoing Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Radiotherapy and surgery. This role will work closely with our Oncologists, Max facial Surgeons, in patient wards and outpatients.

Job responsibilities
Act as a clinical and operational manager for the TYAC service including the TYAC clinical chemotherapy service.
The TYAC service provides treatment, care and support to teenagers and young adults aged 16-30 who have been diagnosed with any type of cancer. To liaise with and work alongside site specialist cancer teams to provide extra advice and personalised age appropriate support. The service accepts appropriate referrals for any young patients diagnosed within Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance (SSCA). The Royal Surrey is the designated TYAC hospital for the SSCA and South Thames TYA Operational Delivery Network (ODN). The service offers shared care including chemotherapy for local patients being treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital, University College Hospital or Charring Cross Hospital.

- RN
- 1st level degree
- 20 credits oncology related qualification
- Chemotherapy administration at Level 3
- Teaching qualification, ENB 998 or equivalent
- Mentorship qualification
- Experience of working with Teenagers and Young Adults with Cancer
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Can demonstrate clinical credibility
- At least 2 years working as a Band 6 chemotherapy nurse
- Evidence of advanced skills in practice i.e. iv additives, cannulation and venepuncture, chemotherapy administration.
Desirable
- Experience of working with teenagers and young adults with cancer
- Knowledge and understanding of current issues in acute
- NHS setting with relation to TYA cancer care
