An opportunity has arisen at North Manchester Sexual Health service to join our friendly team for permanent full time nurse. The post holder have current experience in sexual health, contraception and an understanding HIV care.

The post holder will be able to undertake duties of seeing patients independently within an integrated sexual and reproductive health service. To participate in clinical duties commensurate with their banding, experience and competence.

Main duties of the job

To perform symptomatic and asymptomatic screening, venepuncture, vaccination as an autonomous practitioner.

To provide sexual health advice to clients as appropriate, including supporting the role of the health advisor.

To undertake the administration of hormonal contraception and medicines under agreed Patient Group Directions (PGD) or as a non medical prescriber.

Person Specification

Training/Knowledge

Essential

  • Current and in-depth knowledge of issues relating to confidentiality & consent
  • Current and in-depth knowledge of current local and national safeguarding processes/policy and guidance relating to under 16's, under 18's and vulnerable adults


Desirable

  • Understanding of risk management/ clinical governance
  • Current and in depth knowledge of sexual and reproductive health
  • Knowledge of current national developments in sexual health services


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered nurse or Midwife
  • Mentorship/teaching qualification
  • Degree or working towards


Desirable

  • Nurse Diploma SRH
  • STIF Intermediate competencies
  • Recognised post registration qualification in Sexual and Reproductive Health


Experience

Essential

  • Experience in sexual and reproductive health at Band 5
  • Proven ability to participate in the audit process
  • Teaching and assessment of pre and post registration students


Desirable

  • Participated in research
  • Management experience
  • Currently practising in the speciality
  • Experience at undertaking staff Personal Development Reviews/ Appraisal
  • HIV nursing experience
  • Gynaecological nursing experience
