An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychologist to join the Adult Mental Health Specialty in Aneurin Bevan Health Board. The successful candidate will support the continued development, provision and evaluation of psychological services delivered in secondary mental health care services. We are looking for a psychologist who can lead on operational and strategic development across multi-professional groups and can support ways of working that see us continue to be integrated with the multi-disciplinary team .
The successful candidate will receive professional and managerial support and leadership from the Head of Adult Psychology and will be joining a welcoming and cohesive specialty with a commitment to personal and professional development and a robust sense of professional identity. Together, we are driven by values of kindness and compassion as we work towards increasing access to person-centred, meaningful and evidence-based psychological interventions for individuals and those that are important to them.
The Mental Health Division has made improving access to psychological therapies a key strategic priority, and is also taking a strategic approach to developing more trauma informed services. There are opportunities to contribute to the intention of increasing service user voice through a range of initiatives including developing peer mentor roles and using coproduction as part of how we approach our work.
Main duties of the job
To provide strategic and clinical leadership for the continued development and delivery of ABUHB's adult psychology in secondary care for individuals presenting with moderate to severe levels of psychological distress and associated difficulties in functioning. This will include ensuring engagement of all key stakeholders (including and especially those with lived experience) and ensuring that appropriate governance structures are in place to enable the safe and effective implementation of highly specialist psychological interventions (including assessment and consultation) and waiting list initiatives across ABUHB.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
