Based at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (RAEI), we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic 8b Clinical psychologist to work within our Mental Health Liaison Team .
You will be joining an experienced multi-disciplinary team which includes Psychiatry, Nursing, Social Work, Support Workers and Advanced Practitioners. The successful candidate will receive regular clinical supervision from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist for inpatients and urgent care. Opportunities for continuous professional development are available and will be supported dependent on the needs and interests of the post-holder. Informal support and peer supervision will be available from psychology colleagues within our inpatient and urgent care teams. You will also work alongside our community colleagues to offer high quality patient centred care.
Main duties of the job
This full time, permanent post will be based within the MHLT. The team has not had a psychologist in post for some time, and therefore the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and shape the role of psychology within the team. You will be joining the team during a time of exciting change, with the launch of a new streaming area to facilitate more appropriate care and treatment for those attending the Emergency Department with primary mental health needs. A key part of the role will involve supporting others through consultation, training, service development, audit and service evaluation. You will work alongside the Team Manager, Psychiatrist and Clinical Leads to develop psychologically informed care pathways and trauma informed care. You will offer individual assessment, formulation and brief intervention to a wide range of people, including those who are admitted to the physical health wards at RAEI and those who attend the hospital via the Emergency Department for mental health support. You will link up with other services and offer effective signposting to enhance the patient journey.
Flexible working options are available, and we would be happy to discuss this with you to ensure a healthy work / life balance. We would also be happy to consider offering this post as a Band 8a to 8b preceptorship for candidates who meet all of the essential criteria for the role but require time and support to develop the experience and skills required for an 8b post.
