The post is suitable for candidates with experience of working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist, and newly qualified Clinical Psychologists who are interested in a preceptorship towards the 8a role.

This timescale will be dependent on the experience of the candidate and will be fully supported by the organisation in terms of supervision, relevant CPD, training and learning opportunities. In the event that the elements of the development plan are not fully achieved as assessed by the relevant Psychology Lead within the pre-agreed timescale, the role will remain as a Band 7 and this outcome will be managed as part of the contract conditions agreed with the candidate at the outset.

Main duties of the job

As Senior Psychologist in an established multi-disciplinary service you will be responsible for providing high quality evidence based psychological assessments, neuropsychological assessments, formulations and therapy to older adults.

You will be responsible for leading on psychological provision through consultations, MDTs, and supervision. You will provide advice, consultation and training to colleagues, and to other non-professional carers, on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment.

The role will also require demonstrable leadership and service development skills.

In the 8a role you will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures. You will be responsible for providing supervision to other Psychologists, Trainee and Assistant Psychologists, and community practitioner clinicians.
