An exciting opportunity has developed for you to join the School Nursing Team at Bury Care Organisation as a part time Specialist Youth Justice Nurse responsible for the health needs of a defined cohort of young people who are currently within the youth justice system.

Main duties of the job

To support and strengthen the knowledge and confidence of YJS professionals working within the team, in relation to the health needs of children and young people.

To increase accessibility and develop a coordinated response to children's health needs across agencies and professional boundaries ensuring all young people are offered a health assessment.

Increase the early identification of emotional and mental health in children and young people referred to the YJS.

Assist young people to address their own health needs, identifying how their unmet health needs are contributing to their offending behaviour and supporting with this this when needed.

Provide a clear pathway and referral to other agencies, through the Team around the Family approach, for families experiencing health problems.

  • Experience working children and young people in a community setting

  • RSCN/RN Child
  • Masters study
  • Experience working within youth justice service


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of good clinical knowledge and relevant experience working with children and young people
  • Evidence of working as an autonomous practitioner
  • Good communication skills
  • Good IT skills


Desirable

  • Evidence of working with young people within the criminal justice system
