To contribute to the provision and quality of the educational programmes and environment for medical students that rotate through Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O& G) at Blackpool Teaching Hospital
To ensure underpinning knowledge of the Liverpool and Lancaster curriculums and that we comply with the teaching, learning and assessment methods outlined by the medical schools.
To contribute to the development of undergraduate medical education within the Trust.
Collaborate effectively with the wider medical education team and assist in the development of educational programmes.
To be involved in the assessment and monitoring of undergraduate's key performance requirements including assessment via OSCE/AfL/AfP for both medical schools
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the Undergraduate Clinical Lead for O& G ensure that robust rotational programmes are drawn up and evaluated. Deliver formal induction to the speciality at the start of each rotation. Manage clashes between the different year groups and universities, minimising the impact and maximising the educational opportunities available.

Job responsibilities
Acquire an underpinning knowledge of the Liverpool and Lancaster Curriculums and the levels of knowledge and skills expected in year 3, 4 and 5. Cultivate and promote an understanding and adherence to curriculum amongst all grades and disciplines of staff involved with student doctors within O& G. Ensure colleagues are well versed in the teaching and assessment methods of the curriculum and support them in their contribution. Be directly involved in the assessment mechanisms for the undergraduates and promote understanding across O& G In conjunction with the Undergraduate Clinical Lead for O& G ensure that robust rotational programmes are drawn up and evaluated. Deliver formal induction to the speciality at the start of each rotation. Manage clashes between the different year groups and universities, minimising the impact and maximising the educational opportunities available. Develop training outlines, session plans and leaning objectives ensuring compliance with local and national standards for O& G training and where appropriate utilise the benefits of shared learning across staff groups. Working in conjunction with the Clinical Skills and Simulation Team Minimize the conflict between student Doctors, student Midwives and any other learners that may be in the department, at the same time ensuring all groups are not compromised in meeting their educational objectives. Act as a CBL/PBL facilitator and contribute to the peer review process across al specialities. Evaluate student feedback on their experiences of PBL/CBL, consolidate examples of good practice and areas of concern within O& G. Support the provision of SAMP and SSM within O& G To work closely with the clinical skills and simulation team on joint training programmes, including delivering sessions as a tutor in clinical skills sessions. Contribute to bedside teaching and assessments. Be aware of student behaviours (dress, attendance, punctuality, manner etc). tackle any adverse performance or behaviour as appropriate with reference to the Undergraduate Co-ordinators for any pattern, recurrence or new behaviours. Engage with the undergraduate team with regard to trainees requiring extra support so that support can be provided in a contemporaneous manner. Contribute to the pastoral welfare and support of students on placement. Take part in the assessments of student Doctors both locally and at the Universities. Attend appropriate meetings/committees as required. Forge links with outside agencies specialising in O& G simulation-based learning. Identify innovative learning opportunities and recruit contributors to teaching and suggest areas for improvement. To have an underpinning knowledge of simulation-based training, including the use and control of relevant simulators and part task trainers. Contribute to the clinical skills and simulation faculty for all relevant training, both undergraduate and postgraduate.
