An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 5 registered mental health nurses to work in a busy and challenging environment where your skills and ideas are valued and your development supported.

There are 4 permanent full time posts both based on Ward 22 at the Mental Health Unit, RGH. Ward 22 is a 14 bedded treatment ward for adults of working age who are experiencing mental ill health at a degree which require inpatient treatment.

The inpatient setting can be challenging however a very rewarding environment to work and this is a real opportunity to become part of a cohesive, supportive and innovated team who have a genuine passion in quality and improvement for the inpatient population.

If you would like to be part of the team you will need to have a genuine interest and enthusiasm for caring for people with mental health issues. It would be advantageous to have an understanding and knowledge of the therapeutic approaches that work in such a setting.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Using the Mental Health Measure 2012 framework, to work as a primary nurse for a nominated number of patients , working with the individual and their family/carers in the process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of their needs. Agreeing realistic and achievable outcomes, whilst maintaining independency and promoting recovery.

To administer, monitor and supervise prescribed medication. Observe for and report, as appropriate, therapeutic effects, any possible side effects using evidence based scales

As a member of the multi-disciplinary team contribute to clinical reviews/case formulation and report on the condition of patients to other professionals and when required provide written reports as requested, including Mental Health Tribunals.

Adhere to the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board Policies and Procedures in all areas of clinical practice.
