This is an exciting time for the NHS in Cornwall, with investment that will fund the development of a new Electronic Patient Record at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust. This will be the biggest investment and transformation in the digital technology, that supports our patient care, for more than 30 years. Our new EPR will touch the lives of staff, patients and partner organisations across Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly and beyond. Our services will be supported by a software system that is modern, flexible, and able to support the ongoing health care needs of our population. A key part of the programme will be the transformation of reporting methods, information provision and business intelligence extracted from the new system. To support this, we are developing new posts in our vital, award winning, Information and Business Intelligence (BI) service. You could play a crucial part in our journey to deliver brilliant healthcare services across Cornwall.
Main duties of the job
The Information and Business Intelligence team have a direct and tangible link to the high quality of patient care and patient safety delivered across the Trust, providing key reporting/BI solutions. These roles will support the reporting/information work streams during the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) implementation. This will encompass assisting the Senior Management Team in ensuring reporting from the EPR complies with the national information guidelines, updating Data Collection Worksheets, lead on implementing quality checks and producing data quality reports. The post holders will also be responsible for cascading specialist knowledge and understanding of the new system, into the wider Information and BI Team.
We are looking for motivated and committed individuals, who are passionate about how data, information and BI tools can transform services and underpin the health of our population. We are looking for candidates with strong SQL experience, knowledge and experience of analytical techniques and technologies, an aptitude for problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, data analysis, and excellent communication skills. The best candidates will have experience in data extraction, analysis and data reporting and developing new information reports using a variety of business intelligence tools.
About us
We are a hard-working, friendly, and innovative team, who have won multiple awards for our analytical tools and developments.
Our team support multiple elements of hospital business, utilising data from across the organisation to underpin evidence-based decision making and presenting this in our in-house developed Business Intelligence solution, RADAR. These posts form an important element of the teams' continued development. Transformation of the way the team works will go alongside the implementation of the EPR, as we become accustomed to developing and deploying reporting solutions both within and external to the EPR, utilising a broad range of analytical tools. These posts will enable us to continue to support the growing information and intelligence requirements of our organisation, underpinning clinical and operational decision making, operational delivery and performance monitoring, enabling us to leverage the intelligence from the newly captured data in the EPR and helping to plan our future services.
For further information please contact us via (lynne.vinten@nhs.net).
The successful applicants should be prepared to work in a challenging and changing environment.
Priority will be given to NHS staff at risk.
