An exciting opportunity has become available for band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse or Learning Disabilities Nurse to fulfil the role of Duty Nurse Co-ordinator based at at Cross Lane Hospital.

The successful applicant will be based at Cross Lane Hospital supporting Adult Mental Health and Mental Health for Older People inpatient services.

Main duties of the job

The post will require predominantly night shift working, although there will be periods of time where day shifts will be allocated. Across our services there is a need for more senior clinical leadership to be provided during the night to support clinical decision making where needed.

You will be a role model for junior staff and be expected to demonstrate a high level of decision-making skills and the ability to seek collective support from colleagues where required.

Job responsibilities

This is a superb development opportunity and we are looking for passionate individuals, who are recovery focused, committed to developing/coaching others and client centred. This is a unique post which enables the practitioner to work across multiply clinical areas and disciplines. Patient safety is at the core of this role as well as the desire to support and develop more junior staff.

We offer a package of regular supervision, access to high quality training a varied and challenging role combining direct work with service users and carers with an active role in quality improvement, practice development and supervision.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • RNMH/RNLD, current professional registration with NMC.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education
  • Recognised sign-off mentor or willingness to work towards. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)


Desirable

  • Leadership or management qualification
  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience as a band 5 staff nurse


Desirable

  • Experience of working on an inpatient setting


Communication

Essential

  • Hold excellent communication skills


Leadership

Essential

  • Ability to problem solve and provide clinical leadership
