Main duties of the job
To maintain a specialist knowledge base to support the Resuscitation Operational Services Lead and Moving and Handling Lead in the development of clinical education support across the organisation
To promote multidisciplinary teamwork.
To assist the Trust's resuscitation teams and moving and handling teams
Be involved in the development and implementation of resuscitation, medical device, medical gas and moving and handling policies and procedures Trust wide.
To actively encourage the development of the department through a planned educational training programme, with the incorporation of research into practice.
To assist in audit data collection and where necessary liaise with clinical areas and patient safety.
To support and where appropriate direct local and national courses run by the department.
To support the expanding demands of statutory and induction training to meet the organisational needs.

Job responsibilities
To deliver and assess competency in Moving and Handling, Basic, Immediate and Advanced Life Support training in both adult and paediatric patients as per Trust policy.
To deputise/support the leads in providing expert/specialist advice to ensure continuity of service across the organisation, on the implementation and maintenance of policies and practice for moving and handling, resuscitation, medical gases and medical devices.
To deputise/support the leads in planning, delivering and evaluating training programmes Trust wide. Including departmental bespoke programmes as required supporting effective management practice and increasing workforce productivity.
To assist in ensuring that all members of the cardiac arrest team, and all necessary holders of the resuscitation pagers, are trained and competent in the current resuscitation protocols including the operation of relevant equipment.
To deliver basic life/immediate life support training to Trust staff as part of their annual mandatory training.
To assist in the co-ordination and running of internally and externally Accredited Life Support courses.
Facilitating the Trust in achieving its Health and Safety strategy through training.
To actively maintain a professional advisory service across the Trust and provide specialist advice in relation to moving and handling, resuscitation, medical devices and medical gases, in the absence of the leads for clinical and non-clinical staff. Reporting back to the leads as appropriate.
To actively promote a healthy workplace by educating staff and implementing change to minimise the risk of injury from Moving and Handling of loads and people, static postures and repetitive activities.
To advise managers and staff Trust wide on the implementation and maintenance of a safer handling policy ensuring we are working within the framework of the national back exchange and meeting legislative requirements reporting back to Moving and Handling lead as appropriate.
Provide specialist advice in relation to bariatric patients
Assist with the maintenance and safe use of resuscitation equipment within the organisation in collaboration with the Resuscitation Lead and clinical engineering department.
Undertake on site visits to advise on emergency equipment, systems and processes.
Investigate and assist reports on any clinical incidents relating to moving and handling, medical devices, medical gases and resuscitation.
Provide advice relating to issues related to Health & Safety Legislation
Maintain own professional practice to continue to provide expert/specialist advice in the field of practice to give assurance to the Trust.
Document training provided and complete and maintain accurate training records. Ensure that standards of record keeping meet the required standards to mitigate risks to the trust working with the legal department and governance.
Inform managers of any concerns with the ability of staff to demonstrate safe practice so that the appropriate action may be taken.

- Professional Registration eg: NMC/HCPC
- First degree or equivalent qualification (evidenced)
- Current RCUK ILS Provider or previous course completed.
- Completed an accredited Train the Trainers/Keyworker course in moving and handling or equivalent.
- Training/education qualification at degree level (e.g. Certificate in Education) or willing to work towards
