Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

To assist with the development of waste management and environmental services across the Trust. In conjunction with the General Manager Hotel Services, develop and encourage good practice in recycling and safe waste disposal. The post holder will be expected to advise on value for money initiatives around waste management and to assist on front line training on the safe disposal of clinical waste.

The post holder is required to interpret legislation and guidance in order to develop, and then implement or assist others with the implementation of corporate policies and procedures within the Hotel Services Department.

The post holder will be the a 'Technical Lead' for Waste Management and have day to day responsibility for ensuring that all sites which are under the management of the Trust for waste services are safe, secure and do not present any risk to any use of the services within the Trust.

The post holder will assist with the design and delivery of systems to support the analytical and reporting requirements waste management. This will include the development of electronic systems to facilitate data collection, storage and report/dashboard format.

The post-holder will be managerially accountable to the General Manager Hotel Services within the Support Services Division and will be responsible for defining standards, policy and strategy for the waste management and environmental service within the Trust

Person Specification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • 2 years' experience in similar role or equivalent knowledge
  • Waste/Environmental experience


Desirable

  • Experience gain in the NHS
  • Purchasing, negotiating waste and similar contracts.


Qualification and Professional Training

Essential

  • Diploma/Degree in Environmental technologies, Sciences or equivalent level
  • Associate Member of relevant Chartered Institute
  • Good standard of education


Skills and Abilities
