We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team on the Day Assessment Unit.

You will need good leadership skills and be able to take charge of the unit in the managers absence. Working closely with an experienced team delivering the best care to the patients including dementia care, full comprehensive geriatric assessments and discharge planning.

The Day Assessment Unit aims to complete full frailty assessments within a days visit with the intention of avoiding hospital admission. We provide care for patients with complex medical and social issues. We work closely with the patients and their families to give high standards of care, working closely with many specialties.

You will need to have leadership skills and experience of taking charge of a busy unit. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential as is knowledge and experience in care of the elderly.

You will be expected to assist the Ward Manager in managing a small team of staff. This will include assisting the Ward manager with appraisals and sickness management, completing audits and where needed gathering information and compiling reports and taking part in projects as part of their role

Main duties of the job

The deputy ward manager's role is to support the ward manager in the safe management of the unit and to act in the ward manager's absence to support staff, ensure patient safety and be a point of contact for the ward.

Provide a high standard of individualised care to patients, acting as a role model and supporting the ward manager in driving quality care provision forward

Be responsible for standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area in partnership with the ward manger.

Provide clear clinical leadership to staff, deputising for the ward manger in her absence
