Qualifications needed:
  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
  • Section 12 certification, or a commitment to work towards this.
  • Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders in adults,
  • At least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis) of which at least 2 years will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee or shall have equivalent experience and competencies

We are currently recruiting for a Community Adult Specialty Doctor position in the West Mental Health & Wellness Team, based at Barking Community Hospital, Upney Lane, Barking, Essex, IG11 9LX. This is a new post, that has been created following transformation of services, and additional investment to deal with the current demand on community services. This post is currently vacant, and we wish to recruit substantively to this post as soon as possible.

You will join two full-time Adult Consultant Psychiatrists (Dr Basit Hussain, and out to advert) and 2wte GPvTS trainees in the team, and will have the opportunity to influence future direction, treatment, and models of design in the area in which you work.

Job responsibilities

You will be expected to:
  • Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to adult people with mental health needs, across northern Barking & Dagenham.
  • Provide senior medical support to the team, and direct input on clinical
  • Provide guidance and supervision to the
  • Work directly with adults and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external Adult mental health providers, and acute
  • Work alongside the 2 full-time Consultant Psychiatrists, and 2 full-time GPvTS trainees.
  • Develop links already established with the local acute trusts A& E departments and inpatient wards.
  • Be responsible for patients allocated to them and will assess, manage, plan, and deliver care.
  • Support your peers and the team manager and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative.

Supervise junior colleagues and liaise with other health and social professionals and agencies
