The Bridge SARC is recruiting for a highly motivated and compassionate counselling or clinical psychologist with a commitment to relational, trauma informed practice.

We are developing our Early Trauma Intervention (ETI) service alongside development of a pathway for people who have experienced sexual violence and have complex trauma related mental health needs (CTMHN). To help deliver this service we are recruiting a part-time Counselling/Clinical Psychologist who will work alongside our ETI Counsellors, Specialist Counselling Psychologist, and wider SARC team of crisis workers, nurses and doctors. The post holder will also work closely with our specialist community and voluntary sector partners in the Sexual Violence Alliance and develop relationships with relevant agencies across the region.

This is an exciting post that offers the opportunity to work innovatively as part of a passionate team that is committed to improving long term outcomes for people who have experienced sexual trauma. The post holder will bring a flexible approach, contributing to service development and evaluation, offering some direct client work, and providing supervision, consultation and training for multi-disciplinary teams throughout the Complex Trauma Pathway. The role will involve working both online and in person at locations across the Avon and Somerset geographical region.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo provide a psychology service for The Bridge Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), including:

Clinicalo Provide assessment, formulation, case co-ordination and psychological therapy for people who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives.o Draw upon a broad evidence base to develop interventions that meet the needs of clients whose experiences involve varying levels of complexity.o Provide supervision, reflective practice, consultation and team formulation for multi-disciplinary and multi-agency professionals working with adults and children who have experienced sexual violence.o Liaise with statutory and community sector agencies to facilitate access to services for clients who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives and whose needs are of varying levels of complexity, assessing safeguarding risk and following the Trust's safeguarding procedures while promoting client agency and autonomy.o Provide a service that is culturally sensitive and gives due consideration to any special needs..o Maintain timely and accurate records and monitor clinical caseload in accordance with current Bridge SARC systems.o Regularly attend clinical supervision to explore clinical work and seek and provide peer consultation as needed.o Supervise ETI Counsellors and placement students.

• Experience of formal teaching/training to health and other professionals

• Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System as relevant to rape and sexual assault
• Experience of offering clinical supervision and/or facilitating reflective practice sessions for multidisciplinary staff

• Able to elicit and integrate highly complex, sensitive information, drawing upon psychological theory, evidence and models to generate psychological formulations

• Able to demonstrate an understanding of the roles of a counselling/clinical psychologist in relation to clients, their family, staff teams and wider organisational systems.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

• Postgraduate doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent if trained prior to 1996) recognised for registration by the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist
• Current registration with HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist

Desirable

• Training in one or more trauma-focussed therapies (e.g. EMDR)
