Band 6 Forensic Community Psychiatric Nurse (OATs)
Dip Your Toes in The Water - Secondment/Fixed Term Position
GMMH is redesigning and expanding its forensic community mental health services moving towards an integrated model of forensic community care. As part of the redesign, we are looking for a small team of practitioners to work with the Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT) in assessing, reviewing clinical pathways and making recommendations for individuals who are in out of area secure settings (OATs). The posts will be fixed term in the first instance until end of May 24. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the redesign and development of a growing, highly skilled and supportive team.
The successful candidates will report to the Team Manager for Forensic Community Services. This role will involve working alongside key colleagues and partners across Greater Manchester and the Secure Provider Collaborative.
In some cases, there may be a requirement to travel long distances. Flexible working will be considered.

Qualifications
Essential
- Up to date NMC registration as a first level mental health nurse
- Evidence of post registration development.
Experience
Essential
- Have recent experience of providing mental health care working within a secure setting or a generic CMHT in order to demonstrate the required understanding of risk Management
- Have an in depth knowledge and understanding of relevant clinical interventions to safely provide treatment within a community setting
- Have an in depth knowledge of relevant risk assessment tools and risk management frameworks to sustain service users' community placements
Skills
Essential
- Be able to provide robust packages of care to service users in liaison with multiple stakeholders in order to safely manage mental health and risk management needs
- Be able to engage with service users effectively to ensure monitoring of risk and mental health including identification of recognised early warning signs
