This vacancy is for Registered Nurses with full NMC registration in the UK. If you are an internationally trained nurse that has not passed their OSCE (objective structured clinical examination) you will not be considered for this role and will be automatically rejected, so please do not apply.

Main duties of the job

As a Registered Nurse you will work with all members of the Ward/Department clinical team and within the multi-disciplinary framework. You will maintain a high standard of patient care under thedirection of the Ward/Department Sister/Charge Nurse, taking the lead in clinical areas when competent, in the absence of a senior member of staff.

Necton ward also runs an Acute Respiratory Unit (ARCU) so you will have the opportunity to work in this are and improve your skills managing acutely unwell respiratory patients.

At all times, you will work in accordance with the principles governed by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and Trust Policies.This role requires you to practice and adopt the National 6 C's which are Care, Compassion, Communication, Commitment, Competence and Courage. The 6Cs of nursing stand for the professional values and behaviours and commitment to always deliver excellent care to our patients.

About us

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.

In February 2022 the significant progress that has been made at QEH was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as 'Good' in all of the core services they inspected. They recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with the UK NMC
  • Degree/Diploma in Nursing or equivalent


Desirable

  • Teaching and Assessing qualification
  • Undertaken mentorship training


Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience in the past 12-18 months of looking after patients in a healthcare environment


Desirable

  • Relevant Post-Registration clinical experience


Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to use basic IT skills
  • Accurate documentation with attention to detail
  • Teaching, assessment and supervision of others

  • Clinical Governance experience
