Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust seek applications for a 0.6 WTE Consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Health, (some degree of flexibility around number of sessions possible, can be discussed) working as part of an integrated dynamic team, Worcestershire Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) across Worcestershire.

The successful candidate will deliver specialist Sexual and Reproductive health services including early medical abortion.

The service runs from three newly refurbished clinic hubs in Worcester, Redditch, and Kidderminster. The base will be discussed and confirmed at interview. Within the team there is another part time Consultant in SRH and two Consultants n Sexualh health and HIV.

Candidates should be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of CCT at date of interview

Main duties of the job

Provide a complex contraception service, a high-quality service in all aspects of contraception and sexual health, including counselling and provision of all methods of contraception, including complex LARC

Provision and involvement in management of our in-house pregnancy advisory and early medical abortion service, including referral to outside agencies, where necessary.

Provide professional training, designing, and updating care pathways and developing new services

STI diagnosis and management, including HIV diagnosis and STI prevention including HIV to the population of Worcestershire.

Dealing with clinical incidents, PALS and complaints.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly across all 3 hubs ( Redditch, Worcester and Kidderminster) , when required, with adequate notice and discussion.

To participate in annual job planning and appraisal with clinical managers.

To attend Departmental, Senior Management and Clinical Governance meetings, as well as other external meetings as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• CCT holder or equivalent (or within 6 months of becoming eligible for CCT) or has submitted a CESR application to GMC
• Current full registration with the GMC (or eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment).
• GMC Licence to practice.
• Membership of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health ( MFSRH)
• Letters of Competence in Intrauterine contraception and subdermal implants.
• Faculty Registered Trainer or meets eligibility criteria

Experience

Essential

• Ability to lead multidisciplinary services in provision of complex contraception and sexual health care.
• Provision and counselling experience of all methods of contraception.
• Experience of working with young people and vulnerable groups
• Complex contraception and provision of complex coil and implant clinics.
• Wide experience of Community Sexual and Reproductive health.
• Experience of STI screening and management of sexually transmitted infections in conjunction with a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV.
• Experience in community gynaecology.
• Experience of delivering training in primary care.
• Experience and commitment to participating in clinical governance processes including conducting audit projects.
