We are recruiting a new team to work on our exciting new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme.

Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is bringing in a new Electronic Patient Record. This is major transformation programme that will affect almost all Trust employees, supporting them to provide better quality care for our patients and families.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior EPR Integration Analyst B8a for Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital.

Main duties of the job

This post is a BWC wide post with operational responsibility across the whole organisation for clinical systems development and integration. The department's clinical systems and Integration Engineer is tasked with the support and maintenance all the integration hosted by the ICT department.

The department utilises mainly Rhapsody technology as such the post holder should possess excellent knowledge of this technology and act as the departments Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Rhapsody and clinical system integration. Most of the Trust electronic messaging is sent in HL7 messaging and the candidate must have extensive knowledge.

The post holder will set the Trust's integration strategy and vision with the HOD and will make decisions on the operations of all Trust integration resources.

The post holder, will when required, lead junior or contract staff. This post has responsibilities for continually improving clinical integrations and maintaining their data quality and integrity, namely accuracy, completeness, consistency and validity. As the department regularly updates the Trust systems, the post holder is expected to regularly plan and manage several integration or clinical systems installation projects, often simultaneously, throughout the year and which may exceed 50 in a year. The post holder will also design and implement new integrations.

Person Specification

Qualifcations

Essential

  • Evidence of Masters Level or equivalent postgraduate degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Qualified in a recognised Project Management and IT Service Management methodology with established links with professional bodies (ITIL, Prince2, ITSM, BCS accreditation preferred)
  • Specialist training in MS SQL Database Server Administration and Maintenance.


Desirable

  • Process recognised relevant IT qualifications (e.g. MSCE, MCTS etc...).
  • Rhapsody certification in HL7 messaging (Practitioner and/or Foundation)


Knowledge and Nature of Experience

Essential

  • Experience in the delivery of customer service.
  • Experience in working in team environments.
  • Substantial experience in managing a significantly sized messaging environment.
  • Significant Rhapsody, Clinical Application, Integration experience.
  • Significant experience of designing, coding, testing and supporting systems integration/interoperability applications in a healthcare environment.
  • Significant experience with reconfiguring unsupported or legacy systems to provide Messaging.
  • Experience of managing concurrent projects and conflicting priorities
  • Moderate experience in object oriented programming development (e.g. using Java, C#, JSP, C++).
  • Extensive Knowledge of at least 2 of HL7 v2, FHIR, iPM or Lorenzo, Microsoft SQL Services.
  • Substantial experience of communicating complex issues and data concepts to a range of people.
  • Experience in the use of Power BI. Knowledge and experience of Change, Release and Service Validation/Testing Management as applied to intergration services/applications, and the ability to demonstrate change control across integration services/applications.
  • Understanding of SQL data warehouse.
  • Understanding of cloud computing hosting such as AWS.
  • Basic knowledge of IT networking.
  • Experience of line-managing staff, including performing appraisals and managing personal development plans.

  • Modest experience in supporting a system interface solution (e.g. Rhapsody, Ensemble etc...).
  • Considerable experience dealing with enquiries and investigating solutions in a modern IT environment
  • Significant experience in maintaining technical documentation.
