We have an exciting opportunity for Band 5 Nurses to work on Burlington unit. This is a nurse led unit.
Burlington Unit is an 18 bedded Medically ready for discharge unit , caring for people who have been acutely unwell, but are now waiting for either packages of care or placements. On the ward we deliver supportive care and assist with giving back confidence and re enabling the patients to leave hospital
We are committed to develop Burlington unit as a centre of excellence for Medically ready patients , this is a truly exciting role for someone looking to gain skills in discharge planning, therapies and to help stop de-conditioning
We are looking for nurses with experience of working in an acute hospital setting with a strong desire to learn and develop for our vacant posts .

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of a team to provide an effective, safe environment of care for individual patients, their relatives and carers.
Provides effective, safe, evidence based patient care in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct
Adheres to NMC code of conduct
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates individualised evidence based patient care
Works in accordance with ward philosophy and nursing model
Effectively processes admissions & transfers and plans discharges in accordance with UHSussex policy and standards
Actively participates in promotion of education for patients, their relatives and colleagues with consideration to resources available

Job responsibilities
Prioritises care and delegates workload and ward activities appropriately to HCAs and other staff may be required to take charge of the ward on an ad hoc basis
Effectively and professionally deals with emergency situations as we have no medical teams based on the unit
Participates in the supervision, mentorship and development of students and colleagues
Adheres to local and National policies and guidelines
Ensures safe practice with regard to moving and handling, SHARPS, infection control etc
Responsible for self development and actively participates in UHSussex Strategy for Nursing, nursing metrics and band 5 development programme
Contributes and actively participates in correct reporting and handling of incidents and accidents
Has awareness of ward and team dynamics
