The pre-assessment Nurse will be responsible for the assessment of all elective surgical patients both Day surgery and In- patients in all specialties.The pre-assessment nurse will work alongside the pre-assessment team, surgical Matron and service line managers in order to continually improve on the service we deliver to patients.
Main duties of the job
-Prepare elective surgical patients for procedures at least one month in advance of their surgery.-Perform a thorough clinical history taking and carry out physical assessment in order to assess suitability for elective procedures and to identify risk factors contra-indicating surgery.-Order appropriate clinical investigations.-Make referrals to the relevant members of the multi-disciplinary team.Please note: Interviews will be held on 7-Dec-2023

- RGN 1st Level
- ENB 998/C& G 730 / Mentorship
- Achieved or working towards obtaining Physical assessment and clinical decision-making module
Desirable
- Degree/Msc
- NMP course (Non-medical prescribing course)
Skills and Experience
Essential
- At least 3 years acute surgical / ITU or theatre experience
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
- Ability to work autonomously
- Excellent Clinical skills
- Assertive and Motivated

- Previous Pre assessment experience
- Computer literate and knowledge of CRS
- Experience of working in various surgical specialist areas
