The staff nurse will work under the supervision of a senior school nurse, team leader or practice facilitator . As a team member you will participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care within the boundaries of your role . You will take on leadership roles in supporting other members of staff and pre - reg students.

Main duties of the job

Working across Schools, children's centres, GP practices and Health Centres to enable children and families to adopt healthy life styles

Providing information and advice on health and well being and stressors to health and well being

Give information and advice on child health issues over the telephone.

To act upon child protection concerns and ensure liaison with the senior school nurse/health visitor or child protection named nurse.

To refer and liaise directly to appropriate agencies and services in partnership with child, young person and family.

Be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation care for delegated cases.

To deliver health promotion in schools.

To deliver medical needs training to school staff

Job responsibilities

Promotes and facilitates the physical, mental and emotional health of children, young people, families and groups.

Undertakes assessments, plans and delivers nursing interventions to individuals, appropriately reports and delegates to other team members and ensures high standards of care are maintained at all times.

Take responsibility for the management and supervision of the team in the absence of the senior nurse.

Works in partnership with all service users, members of the multidisciplinary team both internal and external to the trust and ensures continuity of care to the patient in a professional and respectful manner.

Understands ongoing changes within the scope of service provision in the wider community setting, for example: Education and Social Services.

Be aware of the needs of young people, children and their families, have knowledge of statutory and voluntary services and the school community and meeting those needs according to resources.
